5 Great Ways To Incorporate Philadelphia Into Your Wedding Day

I'm lucky to live just outside of The City of Brotherly Love. My husband and I have been making an effort to go into the city at least once a month and it's always a good time. It's such a beautiful city, if you're lucky enough to be a Philly bride, why not show some of your Philadelphia pride on your wedding day? Here are five great ways to do it!

1. Include some local eats! A soft Philly Pretzel with mustard is a great idea for a cocktail hour nibble...even better if the pretzel is warm.

2. Top the cake with LOVE. A nod to Love Park.

3. Set the tone for your big day with Philadelphia themed wedding invitations that include the Philadelphia skyline. You can carry the theme throughout with coordinating day of stationery.

4. Have your photo taken in front of City Hall.

5. Do the Mummer's Strut at your wedding reception! Have out of town guests who don't know what a Mummer is or how to strut like one? Teach them!

Real Weddings - Mary & Jace's Wedding Programs

I had the pleasure of working with Mary on her wedding programs. She chose my Vintage Floral folded card wedding programs and made them her own. We used her favorite fonts for her wording, we adjusted the ink colors and had the programs printed on a gorgeous, smooth, cream card stock.

Place Cards & Escort Cards - What's the Difference?

Ok friends, pop quiz! What do you call the piece of stationery in the photo below?
Rustic Wedding Escort Cards & Wedding Place Cards by Designed By M.E. Stationery

If you said escort card, “DING, DING, DING!!”, you are correct! But I bet you didn’t. You called it a place card didn’t you? Well, there is a difference between the two, and lucky for you, I’m going to share my knowledge with you!

A wedding escort card is like the card in the photo above. It's the card you see at the enterance of most weddings with your name and table assignment. It escorts you to the table where you’ll be sitting.

A wedding place card is this.
Wedding Place Cards & Wedding Escort Cards by Designed By M.E. Stationery

It is the card you see at the table. Place cards are usually reserved for the most formal of weddings. It only has your name on it and is placed at the setting where you are to be seated.  It shows you the seat you will be taking or your PLACE at the table.

Makes sense, doesn’t it? So how come I have both words in my listings on Etsy? Well, for two reasons:
1. Most customers are going to search for “Place Cards” when they really mean “Escort Cards". If I want my listings to be found, I have to use what I think my customers will be searching for.
2. I sell both!! The cards can be used as a place card or an escort card.

So there you have it, now you’re a little bit smarter. At the very least you’ll have a little trivia knowledge the next time you’re at a wedding. Go share your new knowledge with the world!!
