Rainy Weekend Elixir

In honor of today being Friday, and the new season upon us, I’m posting a recipe that I would love to try this weekend. I originally wanted to go apple and pumpkin picking and get some apple cider doughnuts this weekend, but the weather is not going to cooperate. What better way to spend a rainy Saturday than mixing up and drinking some Sangria? It sounds so delicious and it would make a great signature drink at a wedding or bridal shower.

Cheers!

Apple Cider Sangria

1 bottle light Red Wine
1 bottle Sparkling Apple Cider
1/4 cup Apple Brandy
2 Apples (cored and sliced into thin wedges)
1 Lemon (sliced)
1 Orange (sliced)
1 Cinnamon Stick

PREPARATION:
1. Place lemon and orange slices at the bottom of a 2-quart glass pitcher. Top the lemons and oranges with the apple slices.
2. Pour the red wine and Apple Brandy over the fruit. Add the cinnamon stick and refrigerate overnight.
3. When ready to serve, add the sparkling apple cider and stir gently. Slowly pour the sangria over ice.
4. Garnish with a few slices of the apples from the sangria.
